Sorry for the lack of posts, but I have either had no internet access, or no spare time.
Now that I have internet access and spare time, I have just realised that my laptop that I bought with me does not have a built in SD card reader and that the camera I have been using does not have a standard mini or micro USB port, instead some other proprietary port to connect to the computer to which I don't have a cable.
So the update is that I am well and the ride is going well but you will have to wait a little longer for the photos and notes as when I get back to a main town I will go looking for an SD card reader.
