Well better late than never!
Today I leave the comfort and wonderful hospitality of Frenchy's B&B and head out on my bike to find a camp ground!
The ride south was great, good weather and great views.
I ended up at Lands End and stayed the night on the Homer Spit campground.

Update, well sort of...
Hi to all.
Sorry for the lack of posts, but I have either had no internet access, or no spare time.
Now that I have internet access and spare time, I have just realised that my laptop that I bought with me does not have a built in SD card reader and that the camera I have been using does not have a standard mini or micro USB port, instead some other proprietary port to connect to the computer to which I don't have a cable.
So the update is that I am well and the ride is going well but you will have to wait a little longer for the photos and notes as when I get back to a main town I will go looking for an SD card reader.

About this blog...
I thought I had better explain something about this blog, as it is not going to be as content rich as my previous blogs. You see this blog will have occasional updates and photos just so that all watching know I am alive and well.
I have a second blog running that will have all the details, the good and the bad, the highs and the lows of the trip, and you can't do a trip like this and not have some bad days or low points.
Once the trip is complete, the blog that contains everything will then be edited, tidied up and turned into a book. Now this may be just a blurb book (basically a printed copy of the blog) as no publisher would be interested in me, but it is not really to sell or compete with the vast array of other motorcycle adventure books, it is more of a detailed account of my journey that is in an easier to read format and great keep sake.
Of course, family and friends will be expected to buy a copy ;) and if they don't, well they know what they can expect as a future Christmas or birthday present from me!
So if you want to know the full story of events, I am afraid you will have to wait a while, but it will be worth the wait I am sure.

Day 2
Frenchy gave me a lift to the airport where I was going to get my bike out of customs.
I must admit, with pressures of getting the bike ready, my work and a very sick uncle, this was the first time in several months that I was feeling excited about my trip.
I found the customs office, completed all the paper work giving me clearance to have the bike released and headed over to the FedEx building in the distance. It was a fair old walk but I had a real spring in my step with the excitement of getting my bike just moments away.
The walk was long and with all my motorcycle gear on, walking in heavy motorcycle boots the spring in my step soon faded and the warm sun was not what I wanted right then.
It was not long once I got to the FedEx building that Lisa bought out my bike in its crate to the parking lot where I proceeded to remove the top of the crate to reveal my shrink wrapped bike below.
After a few issues were overcome, I had my bike off the crate and I was riding out of the parking lot with a beaming smile on my face.

And here it is, my bike in Alaska...

Day 1
Well today is the day where I fly off to Anchorage in Alaska to start my trip. However, by the time I land there will not be enough time to try and get my bike out of customs so this will have to wait another day.
The first flight was delayed by 50 minutes but the next one was on time so it just meant less of a stop over.
I eventually made it all the way to Alaska and got a taxi to Frenchy's Adventure B&B where I had planned to stay for the first two nights allowing me time to get my bike and everything sorted ready for the trip ahead.

The trip has started in style...
Karen has treated me to a night of luxury in the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel at Heathrow.
I won't see this sort of accommodation much on my trip so will enjoy it while it lasts.

The R80ST being crated.
Whilst many of you would not be surprised to see my motorcycle being wrapped up so well for protection knowing what I am like, it is actually a standard procedure that Motofreight do when crating all motorcycles for shipping. Fantastic.
And here it is with the crating almost done.
