Day 56

Heading back to the coast...

Stanislaus -  Rim of the world.

California's water levels are very low after extended periods of drought.

Someone has painted a rock sticking out of the bank to look like a turtles head!

Day 55

I was so taken back by the beauty of Yosemite National Park, I rode through a second time!
Just a truly amazing place.

Day 54

I left the HUBB event riding with three other people on two bikes. We travelled into Yosemite National Park and camped there overnight.

This is where we have to store any food or other items the bears might like to sniff out.
I reckon I could fit in there too!

Day 52 & 53

Travelling to the HUBB CA event near Yosemite National Park

This is for Alison !

I have landed at the HUBB event.

It was an eventful night, but you will have to wait for the full story on that!

Met some great people at the event and learnt a few valuable tips to help my onward journey too.

Day 51

Today we are travelling on Highway 1 down the west coast of California down to San Francisco.

Great wall painting.

Just got a quick photo after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge but traffic was so busy I just wanted out of there.

Day 50

Diverting today from Hwy 101 onto the 'Avenue Of The Giants' to see some of the amazing Redwood trees up close that California has to offer.

And there was me thinking my bike was big and heavy...

I have a certain connection with dead wood !

The sun is going down and yet I am still riding.

Day 47

Left Seattle today and headed off to the west coast, but on the way I decided to cross the two floating bridges that go across Lake Washington.

My first site of water on the coast.

Done a Segway tour of Seattle today then met Colin at the Central Library for a quick look round before we went and had something to eat in the Elephant & Castle.

Day 44

Headed West on Hwy 20, which is a fantastic road. Stopped of at Winthrop which was a nice old style town, then eventually stopped in Rockport for the night.

 Ooo, I just love Hwy 20 !

What lovely colour the water is.

Day 43

Last night was the most expensive campground of the trip, and to top it off I had a terrible nights sleep.
However, I used there wi-fi to update my phone and then to order 2 new tyres for when I get to Seattle and checked that the BMW motorcycle dealer had the spares I needed.

I pushed on today for longer than I should have, and there was an unfortunate incident that told me to stop riding for the day so I went to the next town that was actually just out of my way, and got a motel for the night.
On the plus side, I had a fantastic chicken salad and it only cost $5.

Day 42

First stop the next morning was the US border control where I got told off for not stopping in the correct place. Well the place looked closed to me and I was about to ride off, then she really would have thrown a wobbly!

Just crossed the border and the clouds looked as welcoming as the glare from the border control officer!

However, the highlight of the day was the 'Going To The Sun Road'. Despite not brilliant weather, the scenery and the road itself were great other than a few too many people and cars.

Plus, I got to see two black bears today, and got the photos, but they will not be published here because this blog has only the bear minimum content!
